The Al Hambra Paisley Jamavar Wrap is a stunning example of Kashmiri craftsmanship. This Jamavar wrap is entirely embroidered with intricate detail, showcasing the traditional Ari style (chainstitch) at its finest, known as Tola work. In Tola work, artisans are paid by the weight of the thread used, allowing them to create lavish and richly detailed designs. The result is a opulent and refined masterpiece. While most of our embroidery is done by farmer-artisans seeking supplementary income, Tola artisans are dedicated full-time to their craft.

The wrap features a harmonious blend of colors and patterns, reflecting the artistry and passion of the creators. Even the tassels are intricately handmade in a fish net formation, adding to the wrap's unique appeal.

The fabric for the scarf is a premium soft wool that is typically woven in Kashmir on old-world mechanized looms that produce about five-six scarves a day.

✨ How to Identify Authentic Hand-Embroidered Kashmiri Shawls
Are you unsure if the scarf you're considering is a genuine, hand-embroidered piece made from quality wool in Kashmir? The principle of "Caveat Emptor" (let the buyer beware) is crucial when purchasing these shawls. Here are some tips to help you make an informed decision. Happy shopping!

Types of Embroidery:

✨ Chain Stitch (Aari): Bold and floral patterns. The back of hand-embroidered pieces will look uneven with visible threads. Machine-made versions have a flat, shiny front and an even back.

✨ Needle Work (Sozni): Finer embroidery, often with paisley motifs. The back of hand-embroidered pieces will be uneven, while machine-made ones are perfect on both sides.

Check the Back:
✨ Hand-embroidered shawls have uneven backs.
✨ Machine-made shawls have clean, even backs.

Quality of Wool:
✨ Authentic Kashmiri shawls use high-quality wool.
✨ Non-authentic embroidery often indicates mixed fibers, sometimes with as low as 20% wool.
Difference from Cashmere:

Kashmiri shawls are not the same as Cashmere (Pashmina) wool shawls.

✨ Genuine Cashmere shawls are more expensive and feature intricate embroidery. Quality ✨ ✨ Cashmere shawls start at over $500, with all-over embroidery pieces costing over $1,000.

Vintage Shawls:
✨ True vintage or antique embroidered shawls are rare and usually not sold easily.

Tips for Verification:
✨ Ask for pictures of the back of the shawl.
✨ Look for uneven embroidery backs for hand-made authenticity.
✨ Compare with sample pictures of authentic pieces.

Using these tips, you can confidently identify authentic hand-embroidered Kashmiri shawls.
